Thanksgiving THROW DOWN!

This time last year (see post in December 2008 that I can't seem to hyperlink to)our sweet Owen was a bald, juicy bubbin of almost 3 months. This year, he is a golden-locked juicy bubbin of almost 15 months. Last year's meal with my family was a peaceful, perfectly civilized meal (on second thought DON'T look at last year's Thanksgiving post). This year,we celebrated with Eric's side of the family. Owen and the Gitelson clan fell victim to raging family fights that many families feel are par for the course during the holiday season. It started peacefully enough...
Poppy read Archie a rousing story...

Nanny snuggled her flaxen-haired grandchild... We were all so happy. And then came the pie.....

Somebody, I don't know who (it was me!) crafted this gorgeous pie. A scrumptious specimen crafted from scratch and filled with apples sent from heaven.

At first bite, Owen was hooked.

He ate a massive slice and exclaimed "My amazing mother has made a pie that I believe God had a hand in baking!" Archie, whose parents wouldn't let him eat any of the Thanksgiving meal and gave him cat food (bargain brand) instead, contested (as his mother has surely trained him) "MY mother is the chef here, you rogue!"

Well, before we knew it our ever gentle Owen was being sucker punched by that hooligan!

The whole family ganged up on Owen. I was bound and gagged during this battle and could not help my innocent lamb. Here we see the aftermath. Eric celebrated Archie's attack while Owen was thrown (okay, he ran) off the side of an air-mattress and plummeted head first at his nanny's feet. Her response was to give him a bag of edamame beans, tell him to "stop his whining" and that he "deserved the head injury" because the pie was not made by Robin and therefore Owen had no right complimenting it. Nanny is so mean!

Thankfully, cousin Julia ran to Owen's defense. Here a light shines down on her from above whilst little cartoon birdies circle the heads of the two villians behind her. She is such an ANGEL!

Owen is still fuzzy on the details of our Jerry Springeresque Thanksgiving.

Tragically, the lovely Julia has been forced into Witness Protection for coming to her cousin's side when he fell in battle. What a terrible, no-good family! She is only 2 years old!!!!

That being said, the food was incredible (including/especially everything Robin made), the company was fantastic and Owen's second Thanksgiving provided us with many wonderful, warm fuzzy memories* A special thanks to Robin who took most of the pictures in this post and then uploaded them to Flickr where I promptly stole them.

*Help, the Gitelson brutes have gotten to me! There is not much time... the ankle biter (aka Archie) has been dispatched to take me down. Oh no. Here he comesEEEEEARRRRRGHHHHHH!!!

OK this was a brutally honest account of what was clearly a traumatic time for us all. But Molly I can't believe you left out this chapter in the events in which Owen and Julia are clearly plotting their revenge for Thanksgiving 2011... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2533/4149916750_b8df0ef8a4.jpg

And by the way the pie was heavenly... gobble indeed!

molly - you ARE out of your mind, despite the fact that you grew a wild, crazy, totally delicious child who makes people laugh as much as you do!

LOL-- Diane, you are still signed in as Robin and while I am happy to make fun of you for this, you might want to sign back in as yourself!
