You wouldn't think a former military post would host stunning gardens. Travel up into the Adirondacks, however, to where Lake George and Lake Champlain meet and you will find (if you have GPS) Fort Ticonderoga. Fort Ticonderoga is a looooong dormant military post from the days of France and Britain duking it out in the seven years war. Now, it is a pretty place with pretty gardens and socially odd people, dressed in period clothes, eating quesadillas in the log cabin dining hall.
If you ever find yourself in the Lake Champlain area, searching for something to do, the King's Gardens are truly magnificent.

At the
Discovery Garden Owen became a true Adirondack man, with his very own Adirondack chair.

He took a little jaunt through the mini-corn maze.

In the
Formal Gardens, he refused to look at the camera for a single family portrait. This was the closest we got.

"Hey Owen, look over here and give mommy a smile! Owen! Owen! Owen? Anybody?"

"Hey Owen, look over here and give tante a smile! Over here! Hey, over here! Owen?"

He wasn't even remotely trying in this one. For Pete's sake, he looks like a creepy, white, marble cherub without eyelids.

Eventually we just gave up on the whole family portrait thing, and hired some nightmare-inducing stand-ins.

Despite not actually looking at the camera, we got many beautiful pics of our little boy.

The same cannot be said for everyone.

This was a good day in the Adirondacks. Owen just owned the gardens.

your stand in family is awesome. I bet they refrain from offering any unsolicited advice.
