Snow Day!

Ah, the snow day. An elusive treat prayed for by youngsters and grown-ups alike. This was our first snow day as a family. We bundled up Owie in his kitty-cat snow suit and penguin boots and were off to the park.

The stroller was left at home and we decided to let Owen walk to the playground. He stopped every few feet to touch the snow, fall over or look at his feet.

He was less than thrilled when Eric picked him up to run a block. This went on for about 20 minutes. A slow walk, followed by a brisk pick-up, wailing toddler and running dad trying to get closer to the playground.

We met up with Callum and his mom (Stacey) and dad (Achiem) at the park. Callum had this fantastic hat featuring long knit braids. As soon as we saw him he informed us that there was "snow" and it was "cold." I see a future forecaster!

Owen's outfit also featured cute dangling bits. That sounds weird but seeing as it is an accurate statement and the word "dangling" is terrific, I'm leaving it.

Owen seemed to really relish laying down in the snow and eating great hunks. No hands needed, just Owen going pie-eating-contest style, eating fluffy white (dear God I hope it was all white)snow.

Not even a good old-fashioned snow-ball fight could distract Owen from his culinary adventure.

On the way home, Owen was more than willing to be carried. He took a generous nap, his belly filled with New York City snow.

I'm not sure if this is a really sweet post or a video reenactment of A Christmas Story--the tongue on the metal pole (bad idea), the mean bigger kid that throws snowballs at the littler ones (mean idea), the full body suit meant to resemble a demasculinating animal (acceptable idea for now). I'm not convinced that you didn't hide a bar of soap in that snow either...
