Meeting Uncle Pete and Aunt Debbie

A few weeks ago, Owen got to meet his Great-Uncle Pete and his Aunt Debbie. They have been showering him with gifts from afar (including the adorable Elmo outfit he sports in these pictures) but it wasn't until Spring sprung that Owen got to meet these two wonderful people. We shared a lunch at grandma and grandpa's house. Owen tends to be a little leary of new people, but he warmed up to Pete and Debbie immediately. I was stunned that he actually let a, GASP, man other than dad, grandpa and poppy hold him without the panicked dive to mama!

Not only does he let uncle Peter hold him, he actually enjoys it!

The two gentleman had a long talk about the ups and downs of T.V.'s hit program "Boston Legal." Pete is pro-Shatner while Owen is a Spader hater.

Debbie gave Owen her spoon. He launched into a rather contrived rendition of "It's not unusual" by Tom Jones.

As far as the bear is concerned, anytime with grandma is a good time.

Tante Kate managed to get her hands on Owen. He was passed around like a cheap.... like a hot potato.

So much excitement called for a little downtime with his main man, grandpa and his blue sun hat.

We closed the day out by giving Owen seltzer and laughing at his reaction. We were not being entirely cruel-- he actually loves seltzer, and reaches for it again and again when he has it at home. His initial reaction remains the same for every sip.

On a side note....

The day started with Owen's first swing ride. He seems very soothed by the swings and greatly enjoys licking them and chomping on the metal. There is something about these pictures, with his little body flying through the air in a bucket that just breaks my heart and fills it with joy all at once. So far, a lot of parenthood has been like that.

Oh, I see rusted, tetanus-infested metal was not good enough for your boy to chew on. Had to throw the soft, pretty, probably organic cotton cloth over it and make the rest of us look bad, eh?

On a different note, I am still kvelling over those dimples in the Grandma Jane photo. Squeeeeeal!
