See You Later, Little Gym!

A few weeks ago, we had our last class at the Little Gym of Harlem. While it was great fun, the commute from our new apartment was just too long to renew membership for a second semester.

Eric took off work to join us for the Oscar themed Grand Finale. All the kids had to wear black pants and white tops, and each child was given a trophy. Owen thinks he got his trophy for saying "Ta-Da!"

He deserved the trophy for his amazing leaping skills.

Owen tried the balance beam each week. We never made it to a place where he felt confident going across without holding my hand, but he is a cautious guy. I can't complain about a child who doesn't want to run down a thin plank of wood unassisted.

Owen quickly warmed up to the parallel bars. Here Owen and daddy show off their rockin' abs.

As a child, my favorite part of gym class was when they let us play with the parachute. Owen loved it too, and they brought it out far more often at the Little Gym then they ever did at my elementary school.

Enjoy this grainy-quality video with muddled music. If I wait until I fix it, I will never get this posted. You get a prize if you can identify Owen in the first 15 seconds. He is hiding in plain sight, amidst a sea of children dressed just like him, with hair just like his. The poor pixelation makes the task especially challenging!

What a great place. Owen looks like a dancer in his black and white outfit. And those leaps - a sure sign of a professional!
