Bear and Moose

Owen has met his match. His name is...Owen. To avoid confusion in this post, my Owen will be referred to as "Bear" and my friend Jenn's Owen will be referred to as "Moose."
Bear and Moose both live deep in the forest of Washington Heights. They are bigger than most of the forest babies, and eat more than most of the forest adults. These two chubby animals both enjoy growling, snorting and, in the case of Moose, imitating asthma attacks. Despite what you may think about a moose and a bear-- they are sweet as sweet can be. What makes these two boys extra special, is how they LOVE each other. Little animals usually engage in parallel play, but Bear and Moose play with one another. They chase, they pet and they tackle each other. Moose screeches at Bear and Bear laughs at Moose. Bear chases Moose and Moose falls over giggling. It is remarkable to watch.

Both Jenn and I cannot get enough of these two fuzzy forest creatures. While the two beasts are usually quite reclusive, a wilderness photographer was able to capture the following video and photographs of the two at play.

Despite being the best of buds, Moose's animal instinct still takes over at mealtime. Here we see him stealing Bear's puffs.

Very rare indeed! The photographer (who I imagine is both beautiful and wise) has caught the boys in the midst of a chipmunk feeding frenzy! National Geographic will want these pictures!

Below we witness them frolicking together:

In the following video, I believe the Moose and Bear are pretending to be crochity old men at a restaurant that has gotten their orders wrong:

this is the cutest, funniest thing i have ever seen! i think bear was tiring moose out - moose could hardly keep up...maybe evolution got it wrong and four legs are better than two...

Washington Heights truly is a magical land, full of homes with hardwood flooring, enormous rooms, step down living rooms, and toilets that flush so loud it brings babies to a momentary standstill. I hope I may visit this magical land one day and see the wildlife for myself.
